Robinson, Enders A., The Devil Discovered, Salem Witcicraft I692, Hippocrene Books,1991. - Premise is that conspiracy was the basis of the tragedy. Includes concise biographies of 86 victims. Based on records of those convicted.

Starkey, Marion L., The Devil in Massachusetts: A Modern Enquiry into the Salem Witch Trials, Alfred Knopf,1949. - An entertaining, well-written version. Upham, Charles W., Salem Witchcraft, Wiggins and Lunt,1867. - The classic account of the hysteria, with much information on the people and places of the Essex County of the time.
